Scope
The VP of Engineering Media Infra is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing engineering strategy and execution across multiple product lines that together form a cohesive solution offering. Positioned between the CTO and the Heads of Engineering, this role ensures that day-to-day operations align with long-term strategic goals. The VP of Engineering is a member of the EVS Skippers Team and is expected to be an influential figure within it.
The VP of Engineering acts as the face of the R&D department in customer-facing situations, especially during escalations, and plays a key role in building trust and credibility with clients. This role is instrumental in driving innovation within their solution, fostering cross-team collaboration, and ensuring engineering excellence across the solution portfolio.
Job Description
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Translate the strategic direction into actionable engineering roadmaps across multiple product lines
- Define and evolve the Media Infra-level engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs
- Represent technical delivery in cross-solution discussions and contribute to long-term planning and innovation
Cross-Product Coordination
- Lead and coordinate Heads of Engineering to ensure consistency in delivery, architecture, and quality across product lines
- Promote best practice sharing, architectural alignment, and reuse across teams to maximize efficiency and coherence
- Actively contribute to the R&D Steerco and collaborate with Product, Quality, and Operations leadership
Customer Engagement & Escalation Management
- Serve as the primary R&D representative in customer-facing situations, particularly during escalations or critical delivery phases
- Build strong relationships with key customers, ensuring transparency, responsiveness, and technical credibility
- Collaborate with Customer Support, Product Management, and Sales to resolve issues and align on customer expectations
Operational Excellence
- Monitor and support the execution of engineering plans, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and risk mitigation
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies (e.g., CI/CD, Agile, DevOps)
- Ensure that engineering teams are equipped to meet compliance, security, and performance standards
People & Talent Leadership
- Manage and mentor Heads of Engineering and their teams, supporting their growth and ensuring effective team leadership across product lines
- Collaborate with HR and the (Deputy) CTO on workforce planning, recruitment, and talent management strategies
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and psychological safety across engineering teams
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key liaison between engineering and other departments (Product, Customer Support, Sales, Marketing, Legal, etc.).
- Ensure that customer feedback and market trends are integrated into engineering priorities.
- Represent engineering in customer and partner engagements when needed.
Profile
- A background working with Broadcast Media Infrastructure products and solutions, including real-time Media Processing, Control & Orchestration software, and Media Transport & Networking.
- Knowledge of AI/ML, Virtualisation & Containerisation, Cloud and Edge Infrastructure, and other software technologies is advantageous.Proven experience in leading multi-product engineering organizations in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into scalable execution
- Deep understanding of software architecture, product development lifecycles, and quality assurance
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working in Agile environments and managing distributed teams
- Comfortable and credible in customer-facing roles, especially during high-stakes discussions

- Fluent in English, excellent verbal and written communication skills
