Scope

The Mechanical Engineer actively participates in all aspects of the design and fabrication of high performance camera robotic products, including conceptual design, mechanical design, fabrication, and system testing. Those activities are realized within a self-organized cross-functional Development Team (Dev & QA), in close relationship with the product owner(s) and the Engineering manager(s). The Mechanical Engineer needs to be able to produce manufacturing procedures, bills of materials, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings, as well as help coordinate build and purchasing activities internally and with suppliers. Developement to be aided by the use of internal additive manufacturing and machine shop. 

Job Description

  • Participate in all aspects of the design and fabrication of high performance robotic camera products
  • Create complex 3D & 2D models and assemblies utilizing the master-model concept
  • Coordinate build and purchasing activities internally and with suppliers
  • Work with vendors to fabricate prototype and production parts and tooling
  • Designing, analyzing, and developing robust, precision mechanisms used in robotic camera system (servo motor control); ability to apply principles of design for assembly and manufacturing
  • Design extrusions, sheet metal, milled parts, AM parts, enclosures, 1D, 2D, & 3D motion systems
  • Directing test engineers and technicians on specific projects
  • Create and maintain assembly drawings, parts lists, detail drawings and releases
  • Provide customer support in the factory and in the field

Profile

  • Bachelor or Master degree in mechanical engineering or equal.

Technical skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical product development and engineering with an emphasis on drive mechanisms, gears, motors and precision electromechanical devices.
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of new product development
  • Proficient in computer-aided 3D & 2D parametric design in Solidworks
  • Understanding of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning tolerancing drawing standards
  • Experience with performing tolerance analysis on complex assemblies
  • Experience designing production parts using a wide range of manufacturing and finishing methods
  • Experience performing DFM, DFA, Failure Analysis, and FFF issue resolution
  • Must be capable of working within a team
  • Must be capable of thoroughly documenting complex system designs
  • Proven ability to assist in developing technical solutions to customer specifications
  • Very good verbal and writing skills are necessary

The following experiences are not mandatory, and will be considered as an asset:

  • Proficiency with FEA modeling tools for structural and frequency analyses
  • Knowledge of live broadcast, performance, sports industries
